Whelan Home Interior Renovation — Regina, AB
When a family has lived in a home for decades, sometimes there is too much history and memories made to simply stick a For Sale sign on the front lawn; kids have been born, graduations have occurred - huge milestones that sometimes feel “wrong” to walk away from! When I first met with Terri and Collin they expressed that there really was nothing majorly wrong with their home other than needing some storage solutions in the kitchen. “Overall, I believe we need a facelift but nothing extreme.” Terri had mentioned during our initial consultation. I completely agreed - the bones were great! The bedrooms were a good size, the overall floor plan was perfect for their lifestyle, but some TLC was definitely on the menu.
After exploring some alternate options for the kitchen to improve the storage and function of the existing footprint, we decided to peel the existing kitchen wall back a bit to allow the area to feel less claustrophobic. We also decided to shrink the sliding glass patio door to a single hinged patio door that way we could bump the fridge to the other wall and surround it with floor to ceiling pantry cabinets complete with roll out drawers! Once we explored other storage solutions for the main floor full bathroom, we opted to remove the existing chimney space so that we could put in a larger vanity cabinet to maximize our closed storage and increase valuable countertop space!
